Sr Accountant/Financial Analyst

Summary of Responsibilities:

The Senior Cost Accountant will be responsible for developing a costing system for all manufactured products. Will develop reports and provide regular analysis to senior management regarding results of the manufacturing operations and opportunities for improvement. This position reports to the Chief Financial Officer.


Key Functions Include:

  • Design and implement cost accounting systems, standards, procedures and methods
  • Develop cost standards for materials, labor and overhead
  • Analyze production costs with input from the purchasing, production, sales, design, procurement, freight and warehouse groups and recommend changes where necessary
  • Analyze the performance of the manufacturing operations, equipment availability and utilization
  • Oversee physical inventory counts, track and analyze the turnover and status of inventory, manage the cycle count procedure and coordinate inventory and cost-related audits
  • Audit bill of materials and work order variances
  • Prepare and analyze cost reports
  • Analyze budget to actual variance
  • Identify trends and present findings to Senior Management
  • Initiate process improvement and process documentation
  • Coordinate Accounts Receivable and Payable documents with Office Manager


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 10 years of experience in the manufacturing industry
  • 5 years of experience working in Cost Accounting
  • Experience implementing cost standards and procedures
  • Experience setting up MRP/ERP systems
  • Ability to analyze manufacturing variances
  • Exceptional organizational, prioritization, decision-making, planning, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, Word and Power Point

Working Conditions:

  • Position is located in Austin, TX
  • Will typically work normal office hours but at times be expected to work prolonged hours depending on workload
