Passive Thermal Management

Patent-pending thermal management is the result of our dedication to deliver the most energy-efficient lighting systems for real-world applications. Every Fluence system is passively cooled.

LED-based

All Fluence systems are built with the latest LED technology from the world’s top semiconductor manufacturers — including Osram, Samsung and LG.

 

2,000+ LEDs are built into every SPYDRx PLUS with 80/120 full width half max (FWHM) pre-focused optics for precise spectral compositions and unrivaled performance, electrical efficiency and longevity compared to any other light source.

Energy efficient

Our focus is, and always has been, to design high-performance energy-efficient solutions for real-world applications. Fluence has designed a unique thermal management system capable of dissipating 39 percent more heat than previous generation products.*

 

Recent tests conducted by Rutgers University and Utah State University confirm Fluence has achieved an efficacy 21 percent and 58 percent greater than the leading 1000-watt double-ended and single-ended high pressure sodium (HPS) fixtures respectively, and better than any LED technology.** Read the press release.


*The BML SPYDR 1200 is capable of dissipating 23 watts with a 25 degree C rise above ambient. The SPYDRx PLUS is capable of dissipating 32 watts within the same rise above ambient still air.

**VYPRx PLUS achieved 2.05 μmol/J. According to a Utah State University report, the best 1000W DE HPS and LED fixture achieved 1.7 μmol/J, while the best 1000W SE HPS fixture achieved 1.3 μmol/J. We have a responsibility to solve today’s challenges while preventing tomorrow’s.

Purposefully designed

Before light can be effective, it must be absorbed. That is where our product development begins.

Light that does not reach your crop is wasted – wasted money, electricity and opportunity. We designed the SPYDR, VYPR and RAZR series for precise, uniform photon delivery, whatever the environment. From passively-cooled form factors tailor-made for their environment to breakthrough spectra created for full-cycle physiological development, every facet of our design process has a purpose.

 

We designed and built VYPR to a mere 2.75” wide because the last thing a greenhouse light should do is block the sun.

 

We designed and built SPYDR to just 4.6″ thick with specialized optics for close-proximity cultivation because the last thing a vertical farm light should do is get in the way of your next tier.

 

We designed and built RAZR to just 1.2” thick with a modular chassis that allows optimal light uniformity at just 5” from top of canopy because more layers equals more production.
